One year ago, Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina with devastating force. In the aftermath, our community came together in extraordinary ways—and right here on the South Slope, Bear’s Smokehouse BBQ became the heart of the response. World Central Kitchen served 1 Million plus free meals from our property, volunteers showed up daily to help their neighbors, and WNC proved just how resilient and generous it really is.

Now, 365 days later—we’re still standing, still hoping, still believing that the best is yet to come.

Join us on Saturday, September 27th for “Rise & Brunch: It’s a New Day for WNC”, a morning of reflection and connection as we mark the anniversary of Helene and honor the incredible spirit of this region.

From 7AM to 11AM, we’ll be serving:

• Hearty breakfast bowls
• Mimosa flights and bloody marys
• Refreshing sunrise spritzers

WLOS will be broadcasting live from Bear’s throughout the morning, helping shine a light on the people, stories, and community that helped carry WNC through one of its toughest moments.
