Set in Ginger’s beautiful Asheville studio, this interactive session invites participants to experience music in a whole new way. Jeri will share one or more of her original songs—offering insight into the lyrics and performing live excerpts—while Ginger guides you through her signature Create + Connect process.
Using collage and chalk pastel, you’ll translate what you hear and feel into a personal visual response—allowing sound, story, and emotion to take shape through image and color.
Whether you’re an artist, a music lover, or simply curious, you’ll leave with a framed original artwork and a fresh, creative lens for experiencing music.

Jeri Katherine Howell - Award-winning singer-songwriter, cultural producer, and educator — cultivates creative experiences that inspire us to live in complex and caring relationship with one another and the planet. With a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Master of Art in Teaching Visual Arts from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, Ginger brings a unique perspective to the worlds of visual art, education, and creative facilitation.
As the visionary behind Roots + Wings School of Art and Design in Asheville (2009-2023), Ginger established a dynamic educational platform fostering creativity across all age groups. In 2023, she expanded her impact with the launch of her working studio, offering a spectrum of creative offerings including classes, private lessons, portfolio development coaching, retreats, and professional development / consulting services for schools. This endeavor reflects her commitment to cultivating authentic connections through creativity and empowering creativity in educational institutions worldwide.
Ginger's dedication extends beyond her studio walls. She is the new Program Director of Horizons at Carolina Day School, overseeing all summer and year-round education programs and fostering strong relationships with students, families, staff, volunteers, and local partners. As an A+ School of NC Fellow, she collaborates with schools statewide to integrate creativity and collaboration into educational frameworks. Through similar work, she works with Mississippi Whole Schools delivering professional development workshops to teachers from across the state in the summer. She has been a TAPAS Teaching Artist since the inception in 2010 for the Asheville City Schools Foundation where she helped coordinates the program over the years. She also serves as the Visual Art Advisor for PBS for the ‘Pinkalicious’ series, the PBS’ Online Learning platform and the PBS Arts Curriculum development.
