Patrick Gleeson will be @ Navan Centre Saturday 20th September to give a richly illustrated lecture!
Dr Gleeson will explain how landscape, ritual, and religion intertwined in the minds and practices of early Irish society. From prehistoric monuments to early medieval royal centers, seasonal gatherings structured society, enabled resource redistribution, and reinforced sacred authority—offering a window into a world where cosmology, kingship, and the land were bound together in ritual meaning.

Dr Gleeson is a pioneer in linking religious practice to political power in early Ireland, and his work continues to shape how we understand Emain Macha as a site where seasons and ceremony elevated kingship and unified communities.
