This month's meeting features Q&A with speakers on Voting and on Memorializing the Enslaved of Arlington.
Bluemont Civic Association Hybrid Meeting Wednesday September 24 at 7:30PM

Virginia has an important election coming up, and at our next meeting we will have information on how you can vote in that election. Tania Griffin, the Outreach Coordinator for the Arlington County Office of Voter Registration and Elections will provide information about the November 4 Gubernatorial Election, such as what’s on the ballot and when/where/how to vote. She will also review ranked choice voting, which is used in some local elections. She will provide sample ballots and handouts about ranked choice voting and provide important online links to additional information.
BCA proudly supports helping all citizens participate in our democracy. Come to make sure you know everything you need to register and VOTE!
BCA will also host Tim Aikens, who will be talking about the Memorializing the Enslaved in Arlington project(MEA)

MEA plans to embed two 6-inch, round bronze plaques into the sidewalk at the southeast corner of 10th St., North and Frederick Street to honor and memorialize Henry Speaks and Lydia who were once enslaved at this location. MEA has received approval from St. Ann’s Church to place stones close to their church. Tim will present this concept in more detail.

You can join us in person in the library of the Key Escuela Elementary School, or you can attend on Zoom. If you attend in person, the best door for getting into the school is the one at the south end of the building next to the parking lot. If you want to attend on Zoom, please register in advance for this meeting at this link.

Before the membership meeting, there will be an Executive Board Meeting starting at 7 pm in the same location and using the same Zoom link. All members are welcome to attend that meeting.
