Six Week Course - Career Exploration for Teens (1:00-3:00 p.m.)

This six-week, in-person course meets on Thursdays for two hours per week, from October 2nd to November 6th - (Dates include: Oct 2, Oct. 9, Oct 15, Oct 23, Oct 31, and Nov 6). We are offering one class from 1:00-3:00 p.m. EST and another from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sign up for the time slot that works best for your student on Thursdays!

This course is designed to introduce students to the world of work. Topics are not limited to but include:

• Important career vocabulary
• Differentiating between “jobs” and “careers”
• Understanding career clusters
• Effective uses of career inventories
• How to build critical hard and soft skills
• Practical strategies for researching careers of interest

Each week’s two-hour class will include engaging single and small group learning activities, short readings, and various writing tasks, with “OPTIONAL” mini homework tasks for those who want to keep learning. The course is taught by Dr. Lori Brown, President of North Star Learning LLC.

**This is a non-graded, non-credit course, but students will receive a “certificate of completion” showing the 12-hour commitment**
