Level 2R: Introduction to Field and Research Techniques - Archer, FL
Are you a land manager, environmental consultant, first responder, homeowner, zookeeper, veterinary professional, biologist, herpetology enthusiast, photographer, or anyone who has already taken our Level 1 Venomous Handling Certification Course and is looking to go deeper? This course is for you!

This two day course reviews and expands upon the concepts and techniques taught in Level 1 by diving deeper into classroom topics like field survey techniques, first aid and emergency response in a wilderness setting, research ethics and more; with hands-on techniques like capturing, restraining, sampling, and handling venomous snakes!


The Level 1 Venomous Handling Certification Course is a pre-requisite for this course.


Please note:

This course consists of two days of classroom instruction and hands-on training techniques which require potentially strenuous physical exertion. Participants must sign a liability waiver, be 18 years of age or older and capable of the following physical demands and mental requirements:


Physical demands - The agility to move in various positions throughout the classroom and outdoor environment which include standing, kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, crouching, bending, squatting, and lifting.


Mental requirements - The ability to learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, communicate clearly, follow directions promptly, and complete a written exam.

Students whose cancellation request is received over 21 days prior to the start date are eligible for a full refund minus payment processing fees and a $25.00 administrative fee

Students whose cancellation request is received within 8 to 20 days prior to the start date are eligible for a partial $250.00 refund

Students whose cancellation request is received less than 7 days prior to or after the start date are not eligible for a refund. Exceptions may be made based on the circumstances of the cancellation at staff discretion.


The Rattlesnake Conservancy is not responsible for travel costs incurred. Please do not purchase non-refundable airline tickets more than 30 days before the course.
