King Tides Walk

Join Friends of the Dunes Executive Director Suzie Fortner on Friday, December 5, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a guided walk at Ma-le'l Dunes North Unit of the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife during one of the highest tides of the year. Participants will explore diverse coastal bay and dune ecosystems, learn about the impacts of sea level rise on these environments, and contribute to community science data collection through the California King Tides Project by taking and sharing photos of the shoreline. The California King Tides Project helps us visualize future sea levels by observing today's highest tides. This is a moderate hike through soft sand and includes a few sandy slopes that can be physically challenging for some bodies.
