Apple Day
11.30 Apple Day Opening Talk and Cider Tasting
Peter Crawford founder of Naughton Cider, Fife
Peter Crawford started Naughton Cider with over 2 decades of experience in the world of Champagne. His aim is to create the purest expression of Cider that perfectly expresses the brilliance of the humble apple. Using apples from the ancient walled garden on his estate in Fife combined with those from other local orchards, Naughton Cider mirrors the process of Champagne production. The process uses a Champagne yeast in barrels previously used to make Champagne.
Join us for this talk as we drag Peter away from his harvest and taste some of his wonderful cider.
All day juicing – Bring your windfalls and take home delicious apple juice. We could not be more grateful to Judith Laughlan from Newburgh Orchard Group for lending us their wonderful apple press and coming along on the day to work with us to manage the pressing.
Café menu for Apple Day – Hugo and Mark, The Hospitalfield Chefs have created a lovely apple inspired menu. The café is open as usual 10am until 4pm - with take away options. Café open
