Retreat Leader Rev. Nancy Zorn Micke will gather First Congregational UCC of Appleton, Peace UCC of Shawano, and First Presbyterian of Shawano for a Womenβs Fall Retreat. Our theme is Come to the Well.
The story of the woman at the well, from the 4th chapter of the gospel of John, provides the backdrop for our time together at Moon Beach Camp. We all come to Godβs well β whether it is to take something or to leave something. Whichever it is, God will and does provide.
Arrive after 3pm and settle in your cabin. Enjoy the lake and woods until dinner β usually 5 or 5:30pm. Weβll spend some time in the evening getting to know one another, learn camp stuff, introduce the theme and full schedule.
Saturday will be a good balance of morning program and afternoon free time. There will be times for silence and for small group sharing. MB offers plenty of choices of things to do at camp: craft room, games, lakefront, labyrinth, hiking trails, and quiet places inside or outside to hang out. Fri/Sat evening: movie, music, snacks, campfire [weather permitting], and vespers. Sunday will wrap up with worship and Communion on Vesper Point, closing circle, and brunch.
What to bring: a small container of water from a βsacred placeβ in your life. It could be from a lake, river, pond, ocean, rainwater, or tap water from your home. If you canβt get to your βsacred placeβ by retreat time β bring water from any source and label it as you wish. OR - Moon Lake will be glad to share her abundance with us β Nancy will have cups and markers available.
Also bring: A journal β it can be one youβre using regularly, or a simple one that is just for the weekend. Nothing fancy or expensive, you decide what will serve you. Bible. Water bottle. A cozy shawl or sweater, or scarf. Whatever you want for free time; craft project, book, etc.
Nancy is a jewelry designer, maker and βfixerβ. So β if you have a piece that is broken or needs to be adapted in some way β bring it along and sheβll l do her best to make it wearable again.
A complete list of what to bring will come closer to the event.
Please register as soon as possible, no later than September 8, 2025.
Scholarship monies are available β members of FCUCC should check with Pastor Katherine, and members of the Shawano churches should check with Pastor Nancy.
