The 1031 Exchange process: The basics and more
A 1031 exchange is a way to defer payment of capital gains and other taxes on the sale of investment or commercial real estate. This presentation will cover exchange basics such as who, when, why and how to do an exchange. More advanced issues that arise from time to time will also be covered.
Speaker: Patrick T. Harrigan
Patrick T. Harrigan is the President/COO of Gain 1031 Exchange Company, LLC, which acts as a qualified intermediary for 1031 like-kind exchanges. He has over 18 years of experience facilitating 1031 exchanges. Patrick previously served as Vice President and Senior Vice President for a national qualified intermediary company and a subsidiary of a regional bank that served as a qualified intermediary.
He earned a Bachelor of Science Cum Laude in Political Science and Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and earned his law degree from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, MN. He achieved the Certified Exchange Specialist® designation through the Federation of Exchange Accommodators in 2010, reflecting the highest standard in exchange experience, knowledge, and professionalism.
