Karla comes to us to share about three of her four grandparents who were Norwegian. Since moving to Decorah, Karla was given family artifacts that included letters and postcards her great-great-aunt Elise Sandager-Hoiness sent home from a 2 ½ month trip to Norway. Using the written messages and the visuals from the postcards, her presentation brings to life the realities of travel at the time and the connection Elise formed to the country of her father, mother, and in-laws.
Some of Karla’s favorite hobbies include stained glass, making gnomes out of old sweaters, and reading. Plus bike riding, kayaking, camping, hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing.
Karla previously worked at Vesterheim Museum planning events and now works at the admissions desk at the museum.
AND--- We will be having our silent auction of many unique Norwegian items. Come see what there is that you cannot live without!
