Junior Gardeners Academy Pilot Launch Event -Sweet Potato Harvest

At Apollo Beach Garden Club, we are committed to growing future gardeners of all ages. It's never too late to start learning, but we also want to grow brand new gardeners while we answer the unmet needs of our local community. Homeschool groups and parents have come forth in great numbers to ask for horticulture & agriculture education for their younger students. After a deep dive round table session with local Homeschool group leaders, we have been able to develop a program that should meet and exceed the community needs.

The garden club has designated one of our 4' x 8' garden beds for the Junior Gardeners Academy program launching in January. Our Director of Marketing and Events, Teresa Hall, has obtained the proper certifications to be an approved instructor through the Step Up program and registered our garden as an authorized provider. Twice per month, students will be able to attend a hands-on learning class where topics include seed starting, transplanting, pruning, identifying pest and disease issues, harvesting, seed saving, learning the origin and uses of plants and how to maintain them once they are in the garden.
