Introduction to Fungi and Foraging

Fungi can be found in nearly every corner of the Earth, from airborne spores to the depths of the Marianas Trench. In all of these environments, fungi play a crucial role in nutrient and energy cycling, sustaining life on the planet. In this workshop, we will start with a brief overview of the incredible diversity in shape, size, and function within the fungal kingdom, followed by the basic steps to locate and identify mushrooms. You are encouraged to observe your surroundings for mushrooms and bring any findings to the workshop for identification practice.
