Hard Hat Tour - Dunbar Tower (121 Catherine)

Dunbar Tower is a six-story, 100% affordable housing development by the Ann Arbor Housing Commission, located at the edge of the Old Fourth Ward and Ann/Fourth Historic Districts. The site, once a surface parking lot, was historically part of a predominantly Black neighborhood that supported community institutions and local businesses central to Ann Arbor’s civil rights history. The building balances downtown density with neighborhood scale, providing much-needed housing while honoring the area’s legacy and strengthening community connections.

On this tour, participants will see exterior metal panel installation in progress, along with ongoing interior finishes throughout the building, offering insight into both construction techniques and material detailing.

Participants will received 1.25 HSW CEUs from AIA (pending).

Participants should bring and wear a hard hat, hi-vis vest, safety glasses and closed toe shoes or boots. Some street parking is available on adjacent streets.
