Honey Bee U-Pick Patch
5700 Scio Church Road, Ann Arbor, United States
You are invited to the 5th annual "HoneyBee Nut Festival" from 10 AM until 5 PM! Celebrate the Earth and the seasons with a FREE, fun, outdoors event this coming Sunday on this beautiful 160-acre property at HoneyBee U-pick (5700 Scio Church Rd., Ann Arbor). Throughout the day we also hope to be roasting chestnuts, tasting different kinds of nuts, pressing apples to make apple cider, and carving pumpkins. The raspberry u-pick patch will also be open for the last of the raspberries, along with hundreds of pie pumpkins, local honey, and Tantre farm-fresh produce for sale! Bring some friends and have fun learning about nuts!
Some of the planned activities include:
10 AM Talk with Marc Boone, owner of one of the only cultivated pawpaw orchards in Michigan and member of the Michigan Nut & Fruit Growers Association ( https://michigannut.org/)
11 AM Nature Discovery Walk with Will Forage for Food ( https://willforageforfood.com/) founder, Rachel Mifsud
12 PM Black Walnut Processing with walnut enthusiasts, Billy & Zyla Sullivan, who will share a demonstration of methods for dehulling, curing, cracking and shelling black walnuts, one of our finest Midwestern delicacies.

1:30 PM Cooking with Nuts: A Conversation with Kori Kanayama, a community farm chef. Come meet and chat with folks who like to cook special dishes with local nuts and exchange ideas. Kori will facilitate and share what she does with chestnuts. Bring recipes and questions.
2:30 PM Nut Tree ID Walk with Washtenaw County Parks Naturalist, Shawn Severance. Learn to identify wild nut trees using bark, buds and leaves in the context of their native plant community.
