(AANHPI Affinity Workshop) Story Mapping through Collage: Ways of Belonging with Mindy Tsonas Choi
Members of the AANHPI community are invited to gather at the Addison Gallery of American Art in Andover to reflect on and be inspired by our own lives in relation to places, real or imagined. Our time together will include an introduction to the exhibition with museum educator Christine Jee and a facilitated session on creating story maps to explore narrative ways of being and belonging, led by artist and cultural organizer Mindy Tsonas Choi.
Participants are invited to bring their own favorite collage materials and ephemera (photos, stickers, papers etc.) All other materials and light refreshments will be provided.
This workshop is free, but space is limited and registration is required. Please be sure to complete the official registration form on the Addision Gallery of American Art's website to confirm your spot. Open to adults as well as participants in middle school and up. This workshop is intended to provide an affinity space for those who identify as Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and/or Pacific Islander. If you do not identify as AANHPI, please do not sign up for the session.
About Lucky Knot Arts
Lucky Knot Arts is a collaborative community centering Asian Americans through creative programming on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Our vision is to sustain a homebase where AANHPIs (including multigenerational, multiracial, and transracially adopted folks) can take up space, create together, and celebrate authentically. Learn more about us at luckyknotarts.org!
Info: Mindy Tsonas Choi is an artist, cultural organizer and facilitator working at the intersection of creativity, somatic healing, and collective belonging as care. Her work focuses on the alchemy of story, identity and our inherent interconnection. As a transracial and transnationally adopted person from the South Korean diaspora, this deeply informs her embodied perspective on land, lineage and how we belong with ourselves and one another.
