Auditions for “Unnecessary Farce”
by Paul Slade Smith
Directed by MaryAlice Larmi
Audition Dates:
Sept 27th & 28th at 1pm
Location:
Anchorage Community Theatre – 1133 E 70th Ave
📖 About the Play:
In a small-town motel, two rookie cops set up a sting to catch the mayor in an embezzlement scheme. What follows is a whirlwind of mistaken identities, slamming doors, and a bagpipe-playing hitman in this award-winning farce.
Casting Information:
💃🏻All roles are for adult actors (18+). No minors will be auditioned.
🏃♂️This show is a fast-paced farce: all roles involve close physicality (grappling, hiding, running, etc.), and most require staged intimacy.
🎭We are seeking a dynamic ensemble of actors comfortable with physical comedy, timing, and bold character choices.
Roles Available:
• Eric Sheridan – A rookie cop, earnest and eager, gets in way over his head.
• Billie Dwyer – Eric’s partner, also inexperienced, easily flustered.
• Mayor Meekly – The mild-mannered mayor with a big secret.
• Mrs. Meekly – The mayor’s sweet but surprising wife.
• Karen Brown – The uptight accountant who may or may not be the key to the case.
• Agent Frank – A suspicious “security agent” with plenty to hide.
• Todd – A mysterious Scottish hitman with a strong accent (and bagpipes).
What to Expect at Auditions:
• Cold readings from the script.
• Movement and improv exercises (be prepared to move).
• Intimacy will not be required during auditions, but comfort with physical proximity will be assessed.
🗓️Performance Dates:
