About the place

Join us on this walking tour away from the busy city center & discover Gaudí parallels in Amsterdam. The Spaarndam neighbourhood had been a social housing project in the 1910s. It was built in the architectural style of the Amsterdam School. What does the Spanish architect Gaudí have in common with the Amsterdam School? Both Gaudí & Dutch architects paid attention to natural forms. They varied & played with them. Both were also in favour of the deployment of craftsmen & specialists. Especially young Gaudí was influenced by socialist ideas – for example when designing workers houses North of Barcelona. During this walking tour we will show you a beautiful residential area in Amsterdam that has not been discovered yet by tourism at all. We will make comparisons between the beautiful design that Gaudí used and the decoration we can find along the way when strolling through this neighbourhood. This tour is full of architecture & social housing history. A great way to escape the crowds.
