Arrive at ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo, a short walk from Waterlooplein metro or Tram 14. Present your ticket at the main entrance for quick access and explore the zoo at your own pace.

Founded in 1838, ARTIS is one of the five oldest zoos in the world. Set in a historic city park in central Amsterdam, it functions as a zoo, botanical garden, and center for scientific exploration.

Pets are not allowed, except for registered service animals.
ARTIS Royal Zoo is a smoke-free venue. Smoking is prohibited anywhere on the premises.
Large bags, suitcases, and oversized luggage cannot be brought inside the zoo for security reasons.
Both the zoo and ARTIS-Micropia are wheelchair accessible, with wheelchairs available on site.
Accessible restrooms are located throughout the venue.
ARTIS Amsterdam Royal Zoo is open every day, including holidays. Standard hours are:
November 1 to February 28: 9am to 5pm
March 1 to October 31: 9am to 6pm
Holiday hours:
December 24 to 26: 9am to 5pm
December 31: 9am to 4pm
January 1: 10am to 5pm
For tickets including ARTIS Micropia, the time slot selected during booking applies specifically to your Micropia visit.

Infants aged 0–2 enter the zoo free of charge. Children aged 0–12 can visit ARTIS-Micropia for free.
Vegetarian restaurants and cafés are available on site. Meals and drinks are not included with your ticket.

The zoo is easily reachable by public transport, with tram and metro stops nearby.
