After decades of self-inflicted family turmoil, Royal Tenenbaum misses his ex-wife and his children. In an effort to rebuild severed ties, he reveals a fabricated diagnosis of stomach cancer. How long can he stay in his family's good graces on the back of such a big lie?

In this brilliantly stylized study of melancholy and redemption, Gene Hackman gives a career-best performance in a stellar ensemble cast, which includes Luke Wilson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, Anjelica Huston, Danny Glover, Bill Murray, and Owen Wilson.

Following BOTTLE ROCKET and RUSHMORE, Wes Anderson broke through at the box office (and into public consciousness) with THE ROYAL TENENBAUMS, his third feature. Along with co-writer Owen Wilson, Anderson was nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Oscars, while Hackman took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
