Chef Nate Gagnon of Bonfire is back—this time for a special Asado experience on the Overlook. Join us from 2-5pm on Saturday Oct 18 for this unique culinary experience, paired with fabulous wines, vibrant fall colors and views from the Overlook!
This Argentine-style "Asado" is a sight to behold: a whole-hog pig roast cooked over an open flame, culminating in a meal enjoyed fireside with friends (and great wine!). Chef Nate Gagnon will start the fires for us the night before, tending to the low and slow cooking of a hog raised right down Franklin Creek Rd, at Oakshire Farm.
From 2pm-5pm the meal will be served:
--Asado de cerdo *Pig Roast* (sourced from Oakshire Farm)
--Spring mix salads (sourced from Sweet Briar College Farm)
--Grilled ciabatta with olive oil
--Saffron rice
Open-fire cooking connects us with what's on the plate in a new way. Along with hyperlocal sourcing of ingredients, it's a unique opportunity to celebrate the harvest and the abundance of Virginia. In Chef's words, we're "bringing people together with real food, and knowing where the food comes from."
We'll enjoy live music by Mirabelle Metcalfe and Jordan Perry, a Charlottesville-based duo who blend country, jazz and bluegrass sounds with foot-tapping favorites.
And all the while, the ladies of Ankida Ridge will keep your glass full so you can enjoy the splendor of Virginia's fall colors from the Overlook.
