Join us for Erntedankfest, the traditional German Thanksgiving festival! Originally a rural celebration where farmers gave thanks for a bountiful harvest and took a well-earned rest, this event brings history to life with activities, food, and fun for the whole family.
Experience the sights, sounds, and smells of the season as we celebrate the fall harvest and showcase the essential skills that helped prepare communities for winter. From artisan demonstrations to hands-on activities, this is a perfect way to welcome autumn and honor Pennsylvania’s German heritage.
Erntedankfest or the German Thanksgiving began as a rural festival where farmers celebrated the harvest by relaxing after months of hard work! This event celebrates the fall harvest and many of the tasks done to prepare for winter. Artisans will be cooking, baking and demonstrating many different crafts and skills. Food and activities for the whole family make this a great fall tradition!
Activities include: Bake Oven, Blacksmithing, wood working, cider making, cooking, flax processing, printing, sauerkraut making, spinning, and tours of the village.
There will be a variety of vendors selling their wares, everything from soap to jewelry as well as food and drink among other things! Enjoy German food from PJ's Catering or a libation from Fritzgibbon Meadery or Mozzotta Winery!
Don’t miss this opportunity to step back in time, celebrate the harvest season, and create lasting memories with your family and friends. We look forward to seeing you at Erntedankfest!
