Dynamic Movement through the Elements: A Beginner’s Exploratory Workshop

Fusion belly dance is a modern dance form that blends traditional belly dance movements with influences from various other dance styles that an individual dancer finds inspiring. It emphasizes fluid isolations, intricate layering, and personal artistic interpretation, creating a unique and evolving artform. Learn some of the fundamental movements of this dance that we will put into a combination that you are free to build upon. Warm up, posture and technique breakdown will be provided to you along with exploration of dynamic movement through the theme of the elements. Using the combination we learn in this workshop, we will play around with concepts of timing, texture, gaze, facial expression and several others while we practice the embodiment of the elements: earth, air, fire and water. The goal of this workshop is to learn how good technique and our intuition guide us to move and express ourselves. Inspired by concepts and ideas from my own studies with: Daewen of the Stygian Collective and Sara Lyn of Vimana Fusion. All levels welcomed. $20 cash or Venmo.
