We are delighted to welcome back pianist and composer George King, whose previous appearances have left audiences on their feet in ovation. His last visits to Alsager were unforgettable, holding listeners spellbound with music that moved seamlessly between dazzling virtuosity and soulful expression. If you missed him then, make sure not to repeat the mistake—this promises to be another unmissable night.
George King is recognised internationally as one of the most versatile pianist-composers working today. He has won major awards across Europe and the United States, including the Ibla Grand Prize in Italy, the Gunther Bialas Prize in Germany, and the Barto Prize in the US. His performances have taken him to some of the world’s most prestigious stages, from Carnegie Hall in New York and the Grand Hall of the Moscow Conservatory to Wigmore Hall in London. Festival audiences too have been entranced by his artistry at Glastonbury, WOMAD, Celtic Connections, and the Abu Dhabi Jazz Festival.
While highly acclaimed in the world of classical composition, King also possesses an extraordinary gift for jazz. He is a regular presence with the Andy Prior and Syd Lawrence big bands and is equally at home in the realms of free improvisation and experimental performance. His joy lies in breaking down barriers between musical genres, making each performance a unique journey of discovery.
Completing the trio will be Peter Robinson on bass and Roger Keay on drums, providing the perfect rhythmic foundation for what promises to be an exhilarating night of music.
Prepare to be captivated: this will be an evening where musical boundaries dissolve, and George King once again proves why he is among the most exciting performers of his generation.
