Ride the Narrow Gauge railway – one of Midcoast Maine’s historic hidden gems – amidst the winter snow!
This winter, ride the historic WW&F “narrow gauge” railway – one of Midcoast Maine’s hidden gems – on a five-mile (round trip) 50-minute excursion.
Board your train at Sheepscot station for a steam-powered ride through the scenic, snow-covered wild pine forests, farmlands and hamlets of the Sheepscot Valley to Top of Mountain. After a layover to allow the locomotive to “run-around” the train, we’ll return back to Sheepscot station where you’ll want to explore our railyard, examine our displays, and peruse our gift shop.
For a true Maine adventure of backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, etc., debark the train at Alna Center and enjoy a 90 minute layover for self-guided outdoor activities in the unspoiled backwoods of Alna!
Ticket price includes the steam train ride as well as parking at Sheepscot. We a pleased to accommodate passengers requiring extra assistance, including those in wheelchairs on this train. Small, well-behaved dogs are allowed at the discretion of the Conductor (limit 1 per train; first come first served.)
Steam Train Snow Day trains depart Sheepscot station (97 Cross Road, Alna) promptly at their scheduled times. Additional dates may be added if conditions warrant.
We look forward to seeing you on the narrow gauge!
