Greetings friends and music lovers, Spring is nearly upon us, and the desert wind is whispering of the warmer weather... and more folk music coming your way! This Sunday, our popular Folk Up gathering continues with a touring duo and a much loved local legend.
Bill Davis has lived and worked in Central Australia for the last forty years. He is a songwriter and composer, a multi-instrumentalist and a teacher who has worked extensively in indigenous affairs, health, education, media and the performing arts. Bill established Red House Recording Studio, and was inducted into the NT Music Hall of Fame in 2023. He loves children, dogs and chooks!
Alice Springs Folk Club is excited to welcome Gentle Duel, a soulful country duo from Lutruwita/Tasmania. They blend classic country sounds with heartfelt originals, and will offer a set of timeless country favourites alongside selections from their own catalogue. Gentle Duel will perform as part of an NT tour to promote the launch of their latest single.
Open Mic is back again, so remember to get in early to sign up as spaces fill quickly! Two songs only please, to allow everyone a chance to perform and changeover time. As usual, Kristy and the wonderful Watertank Cafe staff will be serving delicious meals, cakes, wine, beer and hot drinks. Please remember to respect the performers by listening. So easy!
