Keyboardist and vocalist Steve Kostakes brings his exciting sound back to his hometown... Chicago! Steve, who grew up on Chicago’s south side, was heavily influenced by the city’s music scene, and started playing piano and drums at an early age. Straight out of high school, Steve and his friends toured the western states for five years as “Wooden Planet” a six-piece group, which he played drums and keyboards.
Returning to Chicago, he led his own Rock/Fusion band and played solo gigs until he moved to Los Angeles in 1985, playing the piano bar circuit and pursued songwriting. He then got involved with the blues scene and toured with Guitar Shorty and Lowell Fulson in the early 90's. In 1997 he moved to the East Coast to play for Debbie Davies where he met and then toured with "Roomful Of Blues." Steve has played blues clubs, venues and festivals around the globe.
Steve quit the road and moved to Phoenix in 2000 (to be with his daughters) and played "The Pointe Hilton Resort” for one year before getting hired at “Lil’ Ditty’s” a dueling piano bar in Downtown Phoenix where he stayed until it closed down in 2003.
Steve also played piano bar for "Mastro's" restaurants in Scottsdale, Arizona, and southern California, plus "Maggiano's", "Capital Grill", "Eddie V's", "Ocean Prime", "Ben & Jack's Steakhouse" (to name a few) along with numerous restaurants, bars, casino's, golf resorts, private parties, wedding's and concerts in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area, solo and with his various bands.
You'll now find Steve living in Chicago, playing various styles of music, from 60's, classic rock, to blues. You might have seen him with Claudette Miller at "Kingston Mines" and performing with popular Chicago bands "Class of 68", "Rocks Off" and "The Blooze Brothers.”
