A great way to introduce our young ones to hiking on the trail! This Tyke Hike is an official event for the 2025 Mammoth Hike Challenge, and in addition to earning the actual hiked mile, you will get 5 bonus miles for participating, plus you can add Algoma as one of your visited Trail Communities!
This hike is geared toward ages 7 and under, but families are welcome to participate! All youth must be accompanied by an adult. Strollers and wagons welcome!
The hike, led by Myles the Mammoth, will start at the pavilion by the Algoma Youth Club and head south on the Crescent Beach Boardwalk to the Algoma Visitor Center and back to the Youth Club. The entire hike is about 1 mile.
There will be things to see along the boardwalk so young and old alike can learn more about this section of the trail.
All participants are invited to wear hiking-friendly costumes or decorate wagons/strollers! Theme ideas - little mammoths, hikers and explorers, critters or plants you might see along the Ice Age Trail, etc. Then get your picture taken with Myles!
After the hike, come and join the fun inside the Youth Club!
- Author Kris Van Handel will read her book 'Penny’s Ice Age Trail Adventure'
- There will be several fun activities for the whole family!
- A snack will also be provided.
Free! Registration by September 28, 2025, is not required, but strongly encouraged, so the organizers can adequately prepare. Please register here:
