This retreat is open to anyone with fire or flow experience, from curious amateurs to seasoned pros. You don’t need to be a performer (yet), but you must have some basic flow or fire experience. If you’ve never tried any of this before, please come and get some intro classes before attending.

The retreat helped me to get confident with my fire props, and my dancing, and to do it with safety. It was great to see so many diferent personalities getting along so well, respecting and cheering each other, and making the most loving and nurturing environment for everyone to grow. Such a hard working crew, my type of crew! Loved it!
The bonfire night showcase was definitely my highlight although every part of the retreat was awesome Yes it definately helped me grow as a performer. Learning from others, helping others, being with like minded people from different stages of performing skills or personal skills. And learning new things even with my go to, how it all blends and how to put together a show with all the different aspects needed from prop to clothing and music etc.
We all learnt new skills off each other - that was visible.. everyone was helping everyone to grow. Such a lovely vibe. I Gained more knowledge and more understanding than I ever thought possible.
I overall really enjoyed the retreat and took a lot of info from it both personally and professionally. It was amazing to connect with more dragons and be able to solely think about fire and performing. Burn time and logistics was really important for me and I feel like I got a good understanding of that. Also by talking to the teachers about their past work it gave me a really good understanding of what work is available out there and how much I want to be apart of that. The sense of community at the retreat (with the locals) is so special. You can sense the love and magic of the land which I am honoured to have been apart of.
I was 6 days off my meds and didn’t feel down .. I think I just loved the creativity and excitement, new things .. amazing people.. excelent food… The showcase was really great too! Going through the process of organising a show and having to opportunity to present in front of an audience was great!!
I particularly enjoyed the show on the last evening. Being supportive to everyone as well as being supported by a great bunch of people.
Too many highlights to mention. The support and knowledge of the instructors. The feeling of creating a piece of work over the 4 days by implementing the knowledge of the classes. The thrill of performing which I thought I’d never enjoy. Being part of a community of like minded people and the support they give to everyone.

up to 17 places available for anyone who wants to develop their fire stunts and flow skills with The fire school tutors in an intensive development retreat nestled in the lakeside hills of southern Portugal
If you have NO previous fire or flow arts experience at all then make sure you get some classes first as we will not be teaching stunts from fresh but we will definitely be improving on any you already have. So beginners are welcome but you should have something already to work on.
the days agenda may look like this:

morning flow class 2 hrs / flow jam / non fire 10-1
break lunch 1-2
act development theory and practice
afternoon expert tuition sessions on specific props or stunts
evening meal 7pm
fire jam / supervised fire stunt and prop practice 8-10.30pm

You can bring your tent, hire a campervan or loan one of our tents (we only have a few so first to dibs will get those)
