About Authors:
Nikki Obertik is a passionate educator, illustrator, and author with over 20 years’ experience working with Foundation Phase children. She has written several titles which include "Imi’s Sore Tooth, A Night-time Adventure, The Cheeky Drongo and the Meerkats, The Lonely Weaver’s Best Nest (co-written with her daughter Jaimee), and The Perfect Gift.
Beyond writing, Nikki has illustrated numerous children’s books in diverse styles. Her notable projects include The Baboon, the Dassie and the Berries for Wimpy and Ethnikids’ “Our Stories, Your Language” campaign, and activity design for Sho Madjozi’s Shoma and the Stars Activity Book. She has also illustrated works by Michelle Richardson and Daisy Malele.
Nikki’s work is available in print and e-book formats, with free downloadable activities via her website: www.nixpix.co.za. Follow her on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube (@nikkiobertik3361) for updates and creative inspiration.
Michelle Richardson has been an avid reader and writer for as long as she can remember. Many happy days were spent walking to the local library with her best friend, dogs trotting ahead.
It’s no surprise that her first children’s book stars her own Rollo, a real-life character. Growing up a true bookworm, Michelle found comfort and adventure in the pages of books. She believes every story carries a piece of its author’s heart and imagination—words are never “just words.”
She has contributed to the Motherhood Honesty Anthology and writes for a local online entrepreneurial magazine. Outside of writing, Michelle loves cooking, coffee, crafting, and art. She is a devoted wife to a patient, hardworking husband and proud mom of two exceptional boys.
Having lost her parents and brother, Michelle often draws on deep emotions in her work. Her father’s humor, her brother’s belief in her talent, and the love of her family and friends inspire her daily. Precious memories like being a “reading mommy” at a local school or time spent in Magaliesburg nature are woven into her stories.
Her favorite authors range from Harlan Coben to Maya Angelou, and her childhood favorites include Enid Blyton, Nancy Drew, and The Diary of Anne Frank. For Michelle, the gift of reading is one every home should nurture.
