When you are given an adverse diagnosis what will be the first words you utter?
Life has a way of pressing us with unexpected challenges—whether it’s a troubling diagnosis, a difficult circumstance, or the weight of uncertainty. In those moments, the words that rise to our lips reveal what’s been planted in our hearts. This message explores how storing up God’s Word equips us to respond with life, hope, and faith instead of fear.

Meet Ethel
Ethel Maharg is a three-term mayor of the Village of Cuba, New Mexico, where she served in office for 10 years. She left them with an almost two-million-dollar surplus and economic development that is still providing jobs nearly two decades later.
Ethel is an alumnus of University of Phoenix where she received her degree in business administration. She has owned and operated several small businesses, been an educator, and managed two branches of a national bank.
She coauthored two books and has been the keynote speaker for several pregnancy centers statewide.
In 2018 she coordinated the Convoy of Hope for Albuquerque managing 1700 volunteers and worked with the Hispanic Action Network to distribute 350,000 voter guides with a volunteer army throughout the state in an effort to help with that governor’s race.
She served at Care Net Pregnancy Center of Albuquerque as the Client Services Director for five years overseeing 4 centers and 1 medical mobile unit, working with over 300 volunteer staff.
She served the state as the Executive Director for Right to Life Committee of New Mexico for 5 years.
In 2021 she threw her hat in the ring and ran for Governor. Her message was “Breathing LIFE into New Mexico” as it her greatest desire to see abortion end in the state she loves. Although she did not receive the nomination, she continues to encourage everyone to have respect for life from conception to natural death.
Currently she is serving as the City Director for Love Life Ministries where the mission is to unite and mobilize The Church, the most influential force in ending abortion. She says, “When The Church fully engages in this battle, it will be game over.”
She has been married to Dean for 41 years. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Her favorite title is Nonni.
