Turn your sketches, scribbles, and illustrations into bold, striking prints using the dramatic and tactile art of drypoint intaglio! This hands-on class is perfect for artists who love to draw and want to dive into the world of printmaking—no acids, no toxins, just pure creative process.
Drypoint is a centuries-old technique that dates back to the 1400s, known for its rich, velvety lines and raw expressive energy. You'll use tools like etching needles to scratch directly into plates made of copper, Plexiglas, or even upcycled milk cartons. Ink those grooves, run them through a press, and pull out stunning prints that are full of texture, depth, and drama.
You’ll learn:
How to choose and prep drypoint plates (Plexiglas, copper, and more)
Techniques for mark-making, layering tone and line
Inking, wiping, and printing
How to combine drypoint with existing etching plates
Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned printmaker looking to experiment, this class will give you the tools to make your lines come alive on paper. Come ready to scratch, ink, and print your heart out!
