Heads Up, Calhoun County!
The Chief Noonday Chapter of the North Country Trail Association will hold its October monthly meeting in Albion.
We will be hosted at Sterling Books & Brew, 119 N. Superior St., Albion.
Our special guest will be Lucy Hough, Calhoun County Assistant Director of Community Development, who has graciously agreed to be our speaker.
The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. on October, 8, and is open to the public at no charge.
Lucy Hough graduated from Northern Michigan University and has held communications roles in higher education, corporate settings, and Calhoun County Government. She served as the County’s Communications Director from 2018–2024 before becoming Assistant Director of Community Development in 2025, overseeing Parks, Recycling, and Veterans Affairs.
Passionate about building community, Lucy sees tremendous opportunity in expanding outdoor recreation through Calhoun County’s parks. The North Country National Scenic Trail runs through several of these parks, making the County and the Chief Noonday Chapter strong partners in enhancing access and enjoyment for all.
Lucy will share updates on recent park improvements, upcoming projects, and long-term goals, highlighting how they will benefit both residents and North Country Trail hikers.
The North Country National Scenic Trail, part of the National Park System, stretches 4,800 miles across eight states—from North Dakota to Vermont—winding through forests, farmlands, remote terrain, and vibrant communities. Albion is proud to be recognized as a “Trail Town” supporting the trail as it passes through the community.
