Indoor Walking Moai

WALK TOGETHER. LIVE LONGER. This winter, the Albert Lea Family YMCA and Blue Zones Albert Lea are teaming up to offer a free indoor walking moai—a Blue Zones–inspired walking group that combines gentle movement with meaningful social connection. Walking moais come from some of the world’s longest-living communities. Instead of intense workouts, they focus on consistency, companionship, and habits that last a lifetime.

Attend any days of any week that fit your schedule
Walk at your own pace in a supportive group
Build social connection and reduce stress
Fitness instructor Annie Olson leads walks on Wednesdays
Incentives like protein shakes and T-shirts
Non-Y members just need to stop at the front desk to register. All participants should take pre- and post-experience surveys.
This walking moai is part of celebrating 10 years of Albert Lea as the nation’s first Blue Zones community.
