In this hands-on class, you’ll learn how to break down and recreate a garment from idea to finished piece over three fortnights . Perfect for anyone ready to move beyond patterns and explore their own designs.
This class will guide you through:
Analysing and sketching your garment concept
Breaking down garment construction
Creating and adapting a pattern
Cutting fabric and piecing the garment
Sewing construction techniques
Troubleshooting and garment finishing tips
Participants must have basic sewing skills and be comfortable using a sewing machine.
Bring along a garment you’d like to recreate or redesign, along with fabric and your sewing kit.
Learn how to bring your design ideas to life with guidance, creativity, and practical skill-building.
About the Tutor
Ashley (Ash) Varden is a qualified seamstress with years of experience in garment making and alterations. She’s passionate about sustainable clothing and helping others gain the skills to keep clothes out of landfill.
Days: Thursdays 1.00 - 4.00pm or Saturdays 10.00am - 1.00pm
