A fun get together and shoot at Stockton Sand Dunes
Stockton Sand Dunes are breathtakingly beautiful and suit all styles of photography from fun in the sun to high fashion, maternity, glamour, Cosplay and anything else you can think of. Sunday afternoon 7th December I'm having a friendly shoot event, it's open invite and as usual with anything I put together the main objective is to have fun and create content in (almost) any way you want. There is no set theme or style, models you are totally free to come as you wish and i think one of the great things about this shoot will be the wide open wardrobe choice and variety.
Inspiration ideas include fashion, fantasy, Star Wars, Mad Max, Arabian Explorer, action hero, bohemian, futuristic, desertcore, flowing robes, Burning Man rave girl or guy. Makeup artists can run riot with fantasy creations and bodypaint, the choice is yours.
Since sand can be very hot I'm scheduling this for a 3pm start and we will meet near the Birubi Surf Club situated at 73 James Paterson St Anna Bay. There are facilities at the Club including showers and toilets and its a gorgeous spot overlooking Stockton Beach, it's very popular tourist area and our actual shoot location, to kick off anyway, is just below it to the south where the camel ride area is. The camel rides finish at 4pm so they should be winding up soon after we start. Parking fees have been introduced at Biribi so check if you are in a spot that requires payment, it has been free in the past and I don't believe there is a fee down on the lower area where we will start off.
An option, for a more isolated desert dunes experience is to walk further south a short distance and you will quickly be in an empty expanse. The only firm expectation for this day is that no model or photographer shoots in any style they are not 100% comfortable with and photographers are expected to share their shoot time amongst the models. I don't want to be clock watching, but equally I want everyone to go home having worked with a number of shoot partners.
After we wrap a friendly drink or two for anyone interested at a nearby tavern. I've started a private group on Instagram so we can share ideas and ask questions, ask and I'll add you to the group.
Fire away with questions, everything cheerfully answered.
