Join Dr. Megan Shaeffer, Cultural Resources Supervisor for Summit Metro Parks, for an engaging presentation on how preservation and functionality coexist within our local parks.
Dr. Shaeffer, an archaeologist and sociologist with a Ph.D., has conducted extensive work throughout Ohio and has presented on topics such as Indigenous engagement and cultural resource management. She has also taught archaeology, anthropology, and sociology at both the University of Akron and Kent State University.
In this talk, Dr. Shaeffer will highlight projects where Summit Metro Parks has repaired or renovated historic structures and features to maintain their usefulness while preserving their historic character - including the restoration of the Himelright Lodge, once a working dairy farm.
