Step into the glittering world of the Sun King with Palace of Versailles, a sumptuous program celebrating the splendor of 17th-century France. Apollo’s Fire visits the court of Louis XIV—who famously dressed as Apollo himself—bringing to life the elegant and theatrical music that filled his royal halls.
Led by Associate Artistic Director Alan Choo, the orchestra performs radiant works by Lully, Leclair, and Rameau. Flutes, oboes, and theorbos join the strings in a richly colored soundscape full of grandeur, grace, and irresistible French flair.
Following Thursday’s performance, enjoy an Afterglow featuring French bon-bons and pastries and meet the musicians. Open to all!
Alan Choo’s appearance is generously sponsored by Vivian & Malcolm Henoch.
