Hekate: Who is She? with Shellie

Hekate is a deity that has been having a resurgence in popularity in the past few decades, governing witchcraft and protecting the marginalized. But who is Hekate? And how was she viewed in antiquity? This class covers the many facets of this enigmatic goddess, including:
1. Her inclusion in mystery traditions, including at Eleusis and Samothrace
2. Her prominence in Hellenistic magic, including the Greek Magical Papyri
3. Her honor as the primary feminine deity in the Chaldean Oracles
We will also examine her epithets, myths, symbols, and modern worship.
