Schubert's Octet

The Aiken Symphony's eight finest string and wind players come together for this hour-long masterpiece of Franz Schubert's chamber repertoire, marked by tuneful melodies and an elegant sound enjoyable for all. The largest of all his chamber works, Schubert's Octet is a grand 6-movement work, modeled closely after Beethoven's crowd-pleasing septet. Scored for winds and strings, the piece has become one of the most beloved works in the chamber music repertoire.
