Our watersheds are critical resources that must be protected and preserved, so we give certain areas along the banks a good cleaning twice a year. If we don't no one else will! So please join us and unite with fellow river-lovers...it's both fun and rewarding!

Yet again, our Agawam cleanup will be in honor of Jack Coughlin, the unsung hero who was out every day for many years cleaning the streets and riverfronts of Agawam on his own. Sadly, Jack was hit by a car in January 2021 and passed away in April 2021. He was at many of our cleanups and worked on legislation to help keep our resources clean. He had been pushing for the "Nip Bottles Bill", which would incentivize disposal of miniature “nip” bottles properly by placing a deposit fee on them. It did not pass last session, but hopefully we can get it through this session.
TAKE ACTION:
* Please urge your State Representative to support H. 3447 - "Relative to containers, litter, ecology and nips (CLEAN Act)". Learn more here -
https://legiscan.com/MA/sponsors/H3447/2025. This bill would include nip bottles and certain other containers in the MA bottle law.
* Please urge your State Representative to support H. 3474 - "An Act to expand the bottle bill". Learn more here -
https://legiscan.com/MA/sponsors/H3447/2025. This bill also would also expand the types of containers covered by the deposit system to include water bottles, juice drinks and more. It would also raise the per container deposit from 5 cents, which has not changed since 1983, up to 10 cents, as other states have done.
* Please urge your State Representative to support H. 3464 - "An Act to Update the Bottle Bill." Learn more here -
