October 11, 2025, is the anniversary of the founding of the NSDAR and that each chapter is asked to adopt a special service project in commemoration of our founding.
The Officers voted to accept the recommendation of a Saturday, September 27th clean-up at the Red River Meeting House and Cemetery in Logan County, KY which is 38 miles Northeast of Nashville. The clean-up will not involve cleaning graves or yardwork. Rather it will include “light cleaning” such as dusting and sweeping in the log Meeting House and Pavilion and restrooms.
Red River Meeting House and Cemetery is located at 3808 Shochoch Road (Hwy 663), Adairville, KY 42202. We are needed during the day on Saturday September 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (or a part of the day).
The need for the cleanup is a part of getting ready for the 225th anniversary of the June 1800, founding of Red River Meeting House. A three-day Grand Celebration will be held on October 10, 11 and 12th. There will be camping on the lovely, wooded grounds and “revival meetings” will take place in the Meeting House. Arrivals are expected from many areas outside the Logan County area.
Two of our members have 24 ancestors who are buried in the cemetery including DAR qualifying ancestor General Robert Ewing and his wife, a close cousin of General William Lee Davidson. Go to www.rrmh.org to learn more about the Historic Meeting House, location of one of the meetings that were part of the Great Revival that swept this “wilderness” country in 1800 and 1801 plus a view of the beautiful grounds and meeting house.
