What is The Leftover Run?
Jon and John’s Tris4Health Grand Rapids Virgil and Louise Phelps Memorial Celebrity Leftovers Awareness Pro-Am Fun Run Race to End Hunger (also known as "The Leftover Run").
Everyone should have leftovers after Thanksgiving.
We have partnered with North Kent Connect to raise funds and collect food for those who need help this holiday season. If you aren't a fan of The Office, that title might seem ridiculous, but all you need to know is that we will have a great time raising money and food for a great cause. Last year we raised $2,400 in cash donations as well as 1,000 pounds of frozen turkeys and 1,100 canned goods.
Kids Race Free!
Kids 9 and under can enter the 1 mile and 5k events for free. They must be accompanied by an adult and registered for the race, just like everyone else, but you will not be charged.
How it works: Donate Food Items & Get Time Off Your Run.
Our friends at North Kent Connect are the official charity partner for this event. The race entry fees have been deliberately set low, and we hope that you use those savings to donate at checkout. All donations go directly to North Kent Connect to help those in need in our area.
While cash is excellent and can always be used, we also want to help collect food to ensure everyone has Thanksgiving leftovers. With that in mind, we have created what we think is a rather unique scoring system for this race. Every boxed or canned good you donate will result in 30" being deducted from your finish time. If you want to go all out, every pound of a frozen turkey will reduce your time by 1'!
For example, donating 4 canned goods (2 minutes) and a 20# turkey (20 minutes) would reduce your time by 22 minutes! Just think, you can break the space-time continuum with a negative overall time, and you don't need a Delorean to do it!
The 5K world record from 2024 is a -00:27:37 time from Destiny Smith.
Medals + Shirts: Choose from our "leftovers".
We host many events with fantastic swag yearly, but we ALWAYS have leftover shirts, medals, awards, and more. When you finish, YOU CAN CHOOSE WHAT MEDAL & SHIRT YOU WANT from our 2025 collection of races (GRTri, Armed Services Marathon, MiTi, Grand Haven and more!). With every medal, you will also receive a custom "ribbon slider medal" with the Leftover Run logo.
