2026 Snakes Alive!

Snakes Alive! is presented by the ACT Herpetological Association (ACTHA) in partnership with the Australian National Botanic Gardens (ANBG). This week-long exhibition showcases a variety of Australian reptiles and amphibians - many of which are threatened, endangered and rarely seen in the wild or in captivity.

Kids and carers can get up close and enjoy live displays, feeding and handling of snakes, lizards, frogs, turtles and crocodiles while learning more about these fascinating animals.

Snakes Alive! is being held in the Banksia Centre at the Australian National Botanic Gardens. Follow the signs from the Gardens' car park.

General tickets are valid for one hour pre-booked sessions at 10am, 11:30am , 1pm and 2.30pm daily. Please arrive on time for your session.

Venomous Snake Display:

One venomous snake display per day from Monday to Friday at 10.30am within the 10am session.

Two venomous snake displays per day on Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am and 1.30pm (within 10am and 1pm sessions).

Python Feeding:

Three python feedings per day from Monday to Friday at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm (within 11.30am , 1pm and 2.30pm sessions).

Two python feedings on Saturday and Sunday at 12pm and 3pm (within 11.30 am and 2.30pm sessions).

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Funds raised through Snakes Alive! help the ACTHA support regional conservation issues such as the Northern and Southern Corroboree Frog breeding programs, and other projects furthering reptile and amphibian protection and recovery, education, training, and research.
