A corn dolly is a folk figure, traditionally made from the last sheaf of harvested corn or grain, that represents the spirit of the harvest and is kept in the house for protection and good fortune until the next planting season. At Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, corn dollies are used to give thanks for the earth's bounty and to prepare for the coming darker months. Making and keeping a corn dolly can be a way to celebrate Mabon by embodying gratitude for the harvest, protection for the home, and honoring the cyclical nature of the seasons.
