"Then I said, 'I will not make mention of Him, nor speak anymore in His name.' But His word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding it back, and I could not.

He was physically and emotionally exhausted from trying to suppress the message, and he simply could not hold it back.
The verse illustrates the irresistible and consuming nature of God's call on a person's life, showing that for Jeremiah, speaking God's truth was not an option but a compulsion.
