JAZZ9TUS & El Mundo invites you to a vibrant musical journey with the Ruslan Bolatov Trio: one of Ukraine’s most compelling contemporary jazz ensembles. Their music blends original compositions with jazz, funk, classical, and folk influences, delivering performances full of identity, groove, and emotion.
The trio is led by Ruslan Bolatov, a pianist and composer born in Crimea, whose artistry reflects the rich cultural mosaic of the peninsula. Through his work, Bolatov preserves and reimagines Ukrainian and Crimean folk melodies, giving them new life within a contemporary jazz language. His music resonates not only as art but also as a statement of cultural identity—deeply rooted in his homeland, which remains under Russian occupation.
Together with Oleksandr Murenko and Mykola Kisteniov, Bolatov creates a sound that is both grounded in tradition and boldly innovative.
The performance features Insomnia Taxxi (Iryna Novikova) – a sound artist, composer, and producer originally from Kyiv, Ukraine, now based in Sweden. Her work moves between dark ambient, experimental electronic music, and sound design.
Active in film, theater, and digital art, Iryna creates conceptual sound pieces marked by dark melodies, structured compositions, vocals, and synthesizers. Her performances often incorporate original video material and collaborations with visual artists, dancers, and musicians from a range of genres. Her work explores metaphysical, mythological, and social themes.
This concert is part of the Green Pilot Tour—a Europe Jazz Network initiative in collaboration with the Ukrainian Institute, KNUTPUNKT, JAZZ9TUS, Ukraine House in Denmark, and Svitlo Concert.
