Reclaim Your Roots Hike (Hudson Valley)

Join us in honor of Latinx Heritage Month for a hike centered on reclaiming our roots—uncovering the histories, traditions, and stories that shape us.

As we move through nature, we’ll reflect on what it means to reconnect with our lineage, asking the questions that bring hidden family stories to light. Who were our ancestors beyond their struggles? What traditions got lost or kept alive? How do we reclaim what was forgotten?

Through hiking, journaling, and storytelling, we’ll explore how to approach these sensitive conversations within our families, leaving with a deeper understanding of our roots and how to reclaim them.

Location: Anthony’s Nose Trail
Level: Moderate (must be okay with steps!)

About the hike: We’re headed to Anthony’s Nose trail near Cold Spring, NY where you’ll also be able to hike a section of the Appalachian Trail. If you’ve looking for a hike with a bit of a challenge, then this might do the trick. The first section of the hike is the steep 500-foot rock staircase (takes about 30-45 minutes to go up), then the trail levels out leading to the overlook with the epic views where we will take a break to rehydrate, meditate and journal before heading back. 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Welcome/Smudging/Introductions

10:30 AM - 12:30 PM: Hike in

12:30 PM - 1:00 PM: Guided Journaling at the summit

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Hike back/Closing circle

We want to make sure those who come through Reclama, no matter their lack of experience, have the opportunity to connect with nature on their own terms. It’s time we reclaim our space in nature to honor our spirituality and ancestral heritage so we can move forward as a collective.
