In addition to providing practical support for the expanding knowledge required on genomes, DNA and its manipulation, the activities offered within the ABE programme fit with 4 of the required Biology A level practical techniques, most notably, ‘separate biological compounds using … electrophoresis’. Also relevant to the new GCSE Science specifications, it provides an excellent opportunity for students to extend their knowledge and develop research skills.
