Dr. Martinez-Gomez joined the faculty at the University of California, Berkeley in 2020. The Martinez-Gomez laboratory does research in one-carbon metabolism through the lenses of Structural Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, and Biotechnology. Our projects are centered on unraveling the role of lanthanides in biology with a focus on lanthanide biochemistry, lanthanide-dependent bacterial metabolism, and microbe-plant interactions. In doing so, we aim to develop bacterial platforms to further the agricultural and energy industries through bioleaching, biometallurgy, bioremediation, and electronic waste recycling. Please contact Dr. Martinez-Gomez for questions about the scientific program at cecimrtinez@berkeley.edu
